Ending Veteran homelessness is an ethical imperative for our community, a genuine duty to protect to those who have served the United States. While many Veterans return home to a strong support system and in good physical and mental health, many American Veterans aren't so lucky.

Countless Veterans carry invisible burdens that, over short and long periods of time, affect their health, well-being, and abilities. Regardless of the path leading to homelessness, no American Veteran should feel alone and left to finding a safe place to stay for the night. Not for themselves, not for their families. Certainly, not in Anoka.

Anoka Mayor Phil Rice, Melony Butler, Jim AbelerThe Anoka Veteran Housing Project is working hard to provide quality housing for homeless Veterans of Minnesota, while preserving Anoka's historical story. On October 2nd, 2017, the City of Anoka approved a 25 year lease to remodel three of the Anoka State Hospital Cottages into Anoka Veteran Housing. It was an incredible moment in Anoka's historical story, and this is just the beginning. Significant resources sourced from donations and volunteers are being invested into this amazing effort to provide safe, quality Veteran housing, and volunteers are working efficiently together to complete the project within a demanding timeframe. Your participation is what will get us over the finish line!
