Dave and Jane Thelen, husband and wife, are the owners of Marsh Optical, Carver Eye Care and 2 Select Eyecare locations (Coon Rapids & Monticello, MN). With over 30 years of combined optical experience, their shops offer the best in total eye care, frame selection and customer service.

David began his optical training at Anoka Technical College, graduating with a degree in Optical Technology in 1981. After gaining experience working for several area labs. In 1987, David opened his own wholesale optical lab, The-Len’s Co. which provides finishing work for many retail optical stores. In 1996 David purchased his first retail eye care store, Select Eyecare located in Monticello, MN. This is where Jane begins her optical training, at first handling all accounting and advertising tasks but gradually working her way onto the retail floor to assist customers in their eyewear needs.

With the success of the Monticello store, they soon opened similar stores. Select Eyecare located in Coon Rapids in 2000, Marsh Optical in 2003 and Carver Eye Care in 2005. All four locations continue to provide their customers with the personalized service that you can’t find at discount giants and major chains, yet still offer

highly competitive prices along with quality and fashion.

“Since we have our own lab and David is the one who makes all the glasses, I am confident in saying we are able to provide the most up to date lens technologies and superior quality as well as very quick service,” Jane said.

All Four locations offer complete eye care services ranging from comprehensive eye exams, including testing for glaucoma and cataracts, contact lens fittings as well as general eye health and treatment of eye conditions such as dry eye syndrome. Each locations has its own unique attributes. Marsh Optical, which has been in existence for over 25 years and offers a more quaint, boutique type experience. They feature a wide selections of frames with a knack for the more unique and trendy styles. The two Select Eyecare locations have frame selections that vary from traditional to sophisticated yet stylish and their prices can’t be beat. Carver Eye Care is the newest location and has a more modern feel and feature more name brand frames.
